Reconnecting

Reconnecting

I’ll be brutally honest I am not always good at maintaining connection with people who matter in my life. I get busy, they get busy and frequently more than 6 months pass before we get the chance to reconnect. Despite our best efforts sometimes friends, and even families, can grow apart. Even the strongest relationships be gradually eaten away and damaged if we do not do anything to nourish and support them.

This week I was fortunate enough to get to spend time with some good friends I’ve known for quite a few years and it made my month. We laughed till our sides hurt, cried a little and shared a lot of ourselves – catching up on all that we had missed.

We often connect by phone, text, FaceBook or other social media channels but nothing can replace face to face interactions where you can look into the person’s eyes and connect with their soul.

These treasured moments reinforced my belief that what truly matters in life is our relationships and connection with the people we care about.  Spending time really connecting with others is an investment in one of the most valuable things we have – our relationships.

This week my challenge to you is to connect with someone, in person if you can. If it can’t be in person due to distance or time send them a hand written note or call them up and really be present listening to what’s going on in their lives. I can assure you it will make both of your days.

Life is short make time to connect
